A Christian People

The Church of the Nazarene joins with all true believers in proclaiming the Lordship of Jesus Christ and upholding the basic beliefs and creeds of the Christian faith. The Church is not limited to a specific denomination or tradition but is united with all believers in their love for Christ.

A Holiness People

Holiness is at the heart of the Church of the Nazarene. Recognizing that God is holy, the Church teaches that believers are called to live a life of holiness through the power of the Holy Spirit. This transformation is achieved through a second work of grace known as “entire sanctification” or “baptism with the Holy Spirit” enabling believers to live a life that is pleasing to God and become more like Christ.

A Missional People

The Nazarene Church sees itself as a Missional people, responding to the call of Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit to spread the message of God’s love and salvation to all nations. The Church actively participates in building the kingdom of God and making Christ-like disciples through service and witness.

Living Out the Nazarene Mission

These three core values—Christian, Holiness and Missional—shape the identity of the Church of the Nazarene and guide their worship, service and mission. In everything they do, the Church seeks to fulfill its purpose of making Christ-like disciples in all nations. As members of the church believers are called to embody these values in their daily lives and follow in the footsteps of Jesus.

These values define the identity and guide the mission of making Christ-like disciples.
