One Church, Many Nations

The Church of the Nazarene is a global holiness movement with a mission to make Christlike disciples in the nations. While the Church is united in belief and purpose, its global presence is strategically organized into regions to effectively reach, support, and serve people around the world.

But what exactly are these regions? How many are there? And what does this structure mean for you?

🌐 What Are Nazarene Regions?

Regions are administrative groupings of countries that allow the Church to provide leadership, resources, and ministry coordination tailored to each area’s cultural and logistical realities. These regions are not doctrinally different β€” they simply help the global church function with clarity and unity.

πŸ“Œ The Six Global Regions of the Church of the Nazarene

As of the current Church structure, the denomination is organized into six global regions:

1. Africa Region

The Africa Region includes countries across sub-Saharan Africa and parts of North Africa. With a rapidly growing number of churches and believers, this region is known for passionate worship and strong discipleship movements.

2. Asia-Pacific Region

Stretching from the islands of the Pacific to nations like Australia, the Philippines, Japan, and Papua New Guinea, the Asia-Pacific region is one of the most diverse, both culturally and linguistically.

3. Eurasia Region

This region spans Europe, the Middle East, and South Asia β€” a blend of historic Christian roots and areas where the Gospel is still a growing light. Ministries here often focus on compassion, refugee outreach, and discipleship in secular or unreached contexts.

6. USA/Canada Region

This region includes the United States and Canada β€” the birthplace of the Church of the Nazarene. While culturally different from global regions, the mission remains the same: to live holy lives and make Christlike disciples.

πŸ”„ Why Do Regions Matter?

The regional structure allows the Church to:

  • Respond quickly to needs (disaster relief, church health, leadership training)
  • Develop contextual ministries (language-specific worship, urban vs rural outreach)
  • Support global mission efforts with local insight
  • Maintain unity while celebrating diversity

Each region is led by a Regional Director appointed by the Board of General Superintendents and works with national and district leaders to grow the church in their context.

πŸ“– One Body, Many Members (1 Corinthians 12:12–14)

β€œJust as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ… For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body.”

This Scripture captures the vision: many cultures, one calling. The regions help us live this out β€” locally led, globally connected, and united in the message of holiness and hope.
